 Training/Orientation will be held on:

Wednesday, October 19, 2011 9:00a.m – 11:00a.m

Valley of the Sun United Way

 1515 E Osborn Road Phoenix, AZ  85014

Training participants will receive 1 CPE credit for “Not-for-Profit Accounting and Reporting” for Attending.  An additional hour of the training session will be dedicated to explaining Valley of the Sun United Way’s Community Investment Process and the related importance of these financial reviews.

Volunteers reviewing VSUW partner agencies financial compliance for the first time must attend.

Your financial skills are in demand to assist in reviewing the financial statements and reports of the organizations that the Valley of the Sun United Way supports each year. This volunteer opportunity is flexible so volunteers can login to access the information to review for their assigned non-profit organizations. This review provides feedback to the Valley of the Sun United Way that helps them ensure they are allocating funds to organizations that are utilizing these funds to meet their missions.

If you have any questions or are interested in participating, please contact Andrea Preston at apreston@vsuw.org or 602-631-4854.

Practical Considerations for Non-Profit Board Members- 2 CPE

Speaker: Brenda Blunt

One of the best ways to give back to the community, as well as expand your personal and professional network, is to serve on the board of a not-for-profit organization whose mission care about.  The sad truth is there is a chronic shortage of knowledgeable, engaged people willing to provide guidance and governance to the thousands of not-for-profit organizations who are the binding of our community.  Of those who do serve on boards, many are not certain about their role or what questions to ask.  Whether you have years of experience as a not-for-profit board member or are just thinking of moving into that role, Brenda Blunt will be leveraging her 25 years of experience working with not-for-profit organizations in the Valley and across the country to bring you some practical things you should know about serving on a not-for-profit board.
